Acupuncture has been identified as being more effective than hormone drug therapy in the treatment of period pain and endometriosis. It has also been shown to reduce the size for pelvic masses and is useful as a preventative measure in reducing the chance of endometriosis reoccurring post surgery.
A 2023 systematic review concluded that "Acupuncture treatment for endometriosis demonstrated clinically relevant improvements in pelvic pain and should be considered as a potential treatment intervention."
