Acupuncture For PCOS

Evidence-informed acupuncture to support cycle regulation, improve ovulatory function and reduce metabolic symptoms.

How We Work

PCOS can make cycles unpredictable, worsen mood and skin, and make fertility feel like an uphill climb. Our acupuncture plan is tailored to your current goal — cycle regularity, symptom control or preparing for conception — and always works alongside your GP or fertility team.

We use targeted diagnostics to personalise care and improve outcomes. For metabolic clarity we may suggest a CGM to map glucose patterns and from there, can advise on indivudalised lifestyle changes. To understand the cycle in detail we can run a rhythm profile — 18 saliva samples taken over your cycle length — which shows oestrogen and progesterone patterns so we can build support to restore normal hormone rhythms. We can also use timed progesterone blood tests to confirm ovulation when needed. Together these tests help inform our process to give you the best chance of cycle regularity and fertility gain.

Ever Wondered Why?

PCOS is growing in prevalence for many reasons, but, as discussed by Shanna Swan PhD in her book Countdown, it is often caused by exposure to toxins in utero. To understand this better check out our featured article.

It explores surprising biological clues — notably anogenital distance (AGD) — that researchers are studying as predictors of reproductive health in men and women. It explains how prenatal exposures to endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) can influence AGD, sperm quality and later ovarian function (including links with PCOS), and why these markers are informative but not deterministic. Read on for a clear, evidence-minded look at what the science can and can’t tell us about future fertility.

Can You Predict Your Fertility? AGD, PCOS & Risks — Explained

Patient Testimonial

Since coming off the pill, my period was very irregular and after a few tests and a scan, I had been diagnosed with Poly-Cystic Ovaries. At that time, I had my period once in 3-4 months. My GP suggested just more artificial hormones which I did not want as I think that is actually the cause of all my trouble. So I sought some alternative ways and came across some good reviews of acupuncture as a natural way how to harmonise menstrual cycle.

Meeting Verity for the first time was very pleasant and I felt she was genuinely concerned about my story, my lifestyle and asked many questions to get the right picture about me. I like the way she is very reassuring and optimistic about the outcome of the treatment and find our sessions very relaxing. And yes, apart from that, the acupuncture really works! I got my period on the fifth day after my first treatment and as a bonus, I got pregnant on the same cycle :o)

I am in my 9th week now and so far have had no morning sickness or other unpleasant symptoms typical for the early pregnancies.
