Ready to book?

Appointments can now be booked online. Your appointment time simply helps us manage the number of samples arriving that day. Please aim to arrive within the drop-off window provided in your instructions rather than exactly at your appointment time.

A £115 deposit secures your place, which will be deducted from the total cost of your test.

All tests (Exact, Extend, Extensiv) are booked using the same sample drop-off appointment. The most appropriate test level can be confirmed after booking.

Once your booking is confirmed, we will send your sample collection kit and instructions.

Samples are produced at home for privacy and brought to the clinic within 45 minutes.

If you have any questions about sample collection or logistics, we’re very happy to talk you through it — just get in touch.

Why the type of DNA damage matters

Recent multi-centre research published in Human Reproduction found that double-stranded sperm DNA damage is independently associated with lower IVF live birth rates.

In this study of over 300 IVF cycles:

  • Each 1% increase in double-strand DNA damage was associated with a 16% reduction in the odds of live birth
  • Higher levels of damage were linked to poorer outcomes, particularly as female age increased

This is important because many standard DNA fragmentation tests do not distinguish between types of DNA damage.

At Truth Fertility, we use the Comet assay, which allows us to assess double-strand damage directly.

Not sure if you need this test?

We have a wealth of resources to help you understand whether Sperm DNA Fragmentation could be affecting your ability to conceive.

If you have had any of the following then a sperm DNA fragmentation test should be considered:

  • Recurrent miscarriages or chemical pregnancies.
  • Ectopic pregnancy.
  • Inability to conceive or a diagnosis of 'unexplained infertility'.
  • Embryos that fail to develop 72 hours after fertilisation.
  • Morphology (normal forms) of 4% or below.
  • Varicocele (varicosed veins in or around the scrotum)

Hidden Sperm Damage: Could It Be DNA Fragmentation?

Unexplained infertility can be frustrating, especially when test results seem normal. Our featured article sheds light on sperm DNA fragmentation — microscopic breaks in sperm DNA that can reduce fertility, increase miscarriage risk, and go unnoticed without advanced testing.

Sperm DNA Fragmentation: Miscarriage, IVF Failure & Testing

Sperm DNA fragmentation may underlie unexplained infertility or recurrent miscarriage by impairing embryo and placenta development.

Which test is right for you?

  • Exact (Single Strand)
Initial screening where oxidative stress is suspected
  • Extend (Double Strand)
Deeper assessment in cases of miscarriage or IVF failure
  • Extensiv (Combined)
Most comprehensive option for a complete picture before treatment

If unsure, most patients choose Extensiv to avoid missing clinically relevant damage.
