Exploring stress response patterns in fertility patients

Truth Fertility is currently recruiting participants for a clinical fertility pilot study taking place across participating UK clinics.

This pilot is exploring how stress response patterns may change over the course of fertility-focused acupuncture delivered within routine clinical practice.

Using non-invasive saliva testing alongside symptom tracking and treatment observations, the study aims to better understand the relationship between neuroendocrine stress patterns and reproductive health.

About the Study

This pilot is designed to explore stress physiology in fertility patients undergoing a course of acupuncture treatment within routine clinical practice.

Participants undergo:

Fertility-focused acupuncture treatment
Salivary stress hormone testing
Symptom and cycle tracking
Follow-up monitoring throughout treatment

The study is particularly interested in patterns relating to cortisol regulation, stress physiology and broader neuroendocrine function during fertility treatment journeys.

This is not a drug trial and does not involve experimental medication.

Why Are We Exploring Stress Response?

Many fertility patients describe symptoms associated with chronic stress response or nervous system dysregulation, including:

disrupted sleep
fatigue
burnout
anxiety
hypervigilance
feeling unable to switch off

At the same time, stress and fertility are often discussed in oversimplified ways.

This pilot aims to explore stress physiology in a more structured and clinically grounded way, examining whether measurable stress-response patterns may change over the course of treatment.

Who May Be Suitable?

You may be eligible to participate if you are:

trying to conceive naturally
preparing for IVF or ICSI
experiencing recurrent miscarriage
seeking fertility support alongside medical treatment

Participation suitability is assessed individually.

Laboratory Testing

Salivary hormone testing used within this pilot is processed through Genova Diagnostics, an established international clinical laboratory specialising in functional and integrative testing.

Testing is used within the pilot to explore patterns relating to stress physiology and neuroendocrine regulation over the course of treatment.

Participation does not guarantee pregnancy outcomes or clinical benefit.

Any acupuncture treatment received as part of this pilot remains complementary to standard medical fertility care.
