What karyotype testing looks for
Karyotype testing is a simple blood test that analyses your chromosomes, the structures that carry your DNA. It helps show whether a genetic imbalance or rearrangement could be affecting fertility, embryo development or contributing to recurrent miscarriage.
By looking at the size, shape and number of chromosomes, it can reveal causes that routine tests miss, such as translocations, deletions or duplications, and guide patients towards appropriate treatment or genetic counselling when needed.
We work in partnership with Dr Irfana Koita and the IVF Matters team, so every test is processed with expert precision and reviewed through a clinical lens.

Our view
Why karyotype testing is standard abroad, but rarely in the UK
In many leading fertility clinics abroad, particularly in Europe and the US, karyotype testing is part of early fertility investigations, so chromosomal issues are found before patients start costly or draining treatment cycles.
In the UK it's usually only offered after multiple IVF failures or recurrent miscarriages. We believe that can delay answers and prolong the strain, so we offer karyotype testing earlier in the fertility journey, where it's appropriate.
